Al Hussein Public Park is anchored by the 550 meter open-air museum mural tracing Jordan’s story. At the Arab Army Plaza, my work honors the achievements and sacrifices of the Jordanian Arab Army and the nation’s peacekeeping forces, inviting a collective expression of gratitude, pride, and dialogue through art.
Diptych II “Peacekeeping Forces: Field & Humanitarian Operations”
A disciplined repetition of vertical elements echoes the cadence of an army parade and the order of architectural colonnades, while a solid perimeter frame focuses attention, gives each mural independence from neighboring works, and establishes a clean rectangular canvas.
The imagery is rendered in a minimal, graphic system, shading forms across horizontal bands to align cinematic, pictorial, sculptural, and architectural readings.
The work is conceived as a layered dynamic experience.
At first glance, the murals appear still, unified in a single tone; quiet, almost meditative. Yet as viewers move along their length, the surfaces begin to shift, setting themselves visually in motion. Near life-size figures dissolve and reappear, the play of light and shadow modulating with each step, until vibrant red silhouettes emerge; an arresting transformation that pays tribute to sacrifice and the martyrs of the country.
The eight-meter murals intensify the experience at dusk, as shifting light continually renews the perception of form, ensuring no two encounters are ever the same.
The right mural depicts field cohesion, their collective strength and discipline holding ground in moments of tension. The left turns toward the humanitarian mission, depicting the act of extending aid to communities and refugees with quiet dignity and care.
Together affirming service, resolve, compassion, and strength as inseparable dimensions of Jordan’s peacekeeping role. An expression of national pride and enduring commitment to both country and humanity.
